The Wrocław Festival Orchestra named after Johann Strauss

... was founded in 1993. Its core is the outstanding string ensemble of the Ricordanza soloists, whose artistic leader and founder is the eminent violinist Wiktor Kuźniecow. Today, the ensemble is known as the Johann Strauss Symphony Orchestra of the University Philharmonic. It is called "University" because its main venue became the building of the University of Wrocław. The orchestra is composed of the most outstanding musicians – instrumentalists from Polish philharmonics, playing high-quality string instruments from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Their style of playing blends both solo and ensemble performances. On one hand, each musician of this orchestra possesses soloist skills and extensive stage experience, while on the other hand, they do not abandon their individuality and the unique qualities of their playing to collectively create a monolith that translates into the quality of sound and performance culture. Since 2019, the principal conductor has been Bartosz Żurakowski.

Bartosz Żurakowski Conductor and Master of Ceremonies

... he is a highly regarded conductor, praised by both Polish and foreign critics. The prestigious and oldest newspaper in the United Kingdom, Herald Scotland, after a concert with the Scottish Opera Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow in 2014, compared Żurakowski to the legendary baton master Neeme Järvi.

Dariusz Stachura Tenor

... he is an outstanding Polish opera singer, referred to by the American press as the Polish Pavarotti. His undeniable artistic achievements include his participation in the 100th anniversary celebrations of the premiere of Puccini’s La Bohème in Turin in 1996. As the only foreigner and the first understudy of Luciano Pavarotti, he alternated with the master in performing the role of Rodolfo in La Bohème. The master himself referred to him as "Grande Tenore Polacco."

New Year’s Gala in the Viennese style

...The Wrocław Johann Strauss Festival Orchestra (founded in 1993) will perform dance music from the 19th and 20th centuries – lively Waltzes, captivating Polkas, Marches, and Czardashes, as well as arias and duets from the famous operettas of the Johann Strauss dynasty, alongside Italian and Spanish songs and ballads. All of this will be performed by the outstanding tenor Dariusz Stachura, referred to by the American press as the Polish Pavarotti.
